News from our recycling partners

Three of our certified recycling partners offer an insight into their work. Congefi, the Bader Group and Immark exemplify the interaction of modern technology, commitment and high standards that distinguishes the Swico and SENS network.

Congefi has been an official Swico and SENS recycler since January 2025

Congefi SA, founded in Giubiasco in 1987, is a leading Ticino company operating in waste management and recycling that guarantees efficient, sustainable solutions for a total annual waste volume of around 100,000 tonnes.

Congefi has a team of around 70 employees and an operating area of 30,000 m², 14,000 m² of which is kitted out with modern separating, pressing, cutting and shredding systems. The company collects, transports and sorts an extremely wide range of materials and prepares them for final disposal. With its innovative fleet and dedicated customer service, the company guarantees efficiency and reliability.

Congefi continuously invests in its facilities and in the health and safety of its employees. The company also boasts solar modules with an output of 700 kWp, which play an active role in reducing its carbon footprint. The company’s commitment to quality and the environment is certified in accordance with the standards ISO 9001 (quality management) and ISO 14001 (environmental management), ensuring optimised processes and responsible recycling.

The aim is to offer bespoke solutions to public bodies, companies and private individuals and to act as an ideal partner for sustainable management, drawing on its experience, technology and respect for the environment.

Congefi is delighted that it has been recognised as an official recycler for the disposal of waste electrical and electronic equipment by SENS and now by Swico too, allowing it to play an important role in the supply chain for sustainable recycling and disposal.

Immark processing plant sets new standards in electrical recycling

After two years of project planning and construction, Immark commissioned its new recycling plant for waste electrical and electronic equipment at its Regensdorf (Canton of Zurich) site last year. The facility’s sophisticated technology makes it one of the most advanced of its kind in Europe. ‘The new plant offers technical advances and optimisations in terms of processing procedures, quality of the final fractions, safety, and an ergonomic workplace environment. It is one of the most modern recycling plants in Europe,’ commented Sabine Krattiger, COO of Immark. Immark achieves a recovery rate of up to 95% with the plant.

Patrick Wollenmann, Technology Team Leader explained: ‘The plant is designed to be operated on a modular basis. In other words, materials and waste equipment that can skip certain processing stages due to their type or size can be fed in or removed at different stages. This increases efficiency and reduces wear. The plant has a processing capacity of up to 12 tonnes of material per hour.’

One special feature is the material sorting of recyclable materials using sensor technology, in which specific recyclable materials such as printed circuit boards and plastics are detected using sensors and removed from the material flow.

The new facility, which occupies a total area of 3,500 m2, was installed during ongoing operations at the same time as the old facility was being dismantled – a masterstroke by the project team and the employees, who kept things running at all times despite space restrictions. On 29 August 2024, Immark celebrated the launch of its new recycling plant, offering customers and the guest of honour, Federal Councillor Albert Rösti, an overview of the facilities, including a glimpse behind the scenes. ‘A functioning circular economy is crucial to protecting our environment. This requires close cooperation between society, politics, industry and the recycling sector. This state-of-the-art electronics recycling plant is an excellent example of innovative solutions. The plant is one of the most modern in Europe, which makes me particularly pleased for Switzerland as an innovation hub,’ said Federal Councillor Albert Rösti, Head of the Federal Department of the Environment, Transport, Energy and Communications (DETEC).
